What Does the Language Department Teach?

The Tebyan Language Department’s academic program is built around a Skills-Based Learning approach, with balanced development of the four core English language skills:

  • Speaking – Conversation & Effective Communication

  • Listening – Listening Comprehension

  • Reading – Reading Comprehension

  • Writing – Writing Skills

Alongside these core skills, students develop vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, presentation skills, critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills. Practical language activities are also integrated into the program to help students use English confidently in real-world contexts and develop the skills needed to engage with international academic and educational opportunities.

What Learning Resources Are Used?

The Language Department uses a carefully selected range of internationally recognized educational resources, chosen according to the age, proficiency level, and learning needs of students at each grade level.

In addition to core textbooks, students benefit from supplementary materials, digital resources, department-developed content, educational projects, storybooks, learning games, and interactive activities. These resources are designed and selected by the department’s specialist team to make learning more engaging, meaningful, and practical.

What Books Are Used?

The core academic program incorporates materials from Oxford University Press, one of the world’s leading publishers of English language learning resources for children and young learners.

At the primary level, supplementary resources such as Oxford Discover Foundations and Jolly Phonics are used, where appropriate, to support early literacy, phonics, reading development, and foundational English language skills.

Alongside these established resources, students also work with exclusive learning materials developed by the Tebyan Language Department to complement the core curriculum and address specific learning objectives.

When Does English Language Education Begin, and How Far Does It Continue?

English language education at Tebyan Educational & Cultural Complex begins in Preschool and continues progressively through the end of Lower Secondary School (Grade 9).

The learning pathway is designed to help students develop their language abilities gradually and systematically each academic year, progressing from foundational to more advanced levels.

Beyond supporting academic success at school, the program aims to build the language skills, confidence, and academic readiness students need to pursue future opportunities in higher education, international examinations, and global academic, scientific, and professional environments and competitions.

Which English Accent Is Taught?

The Language Department uses American English as its primary instructional standard, and the core learning resources are selected accordingly.
